Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee (East Coast)

Rating: 💎💎💎 #美食金 #jiak
Geylang Lorong 29 Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee #芽笼29巷福建面 @ 396 East Coast Road (Marine Parade)
Recommend: Anything cooked with Charcoal
Charcoal Surf Dialect Noodle (my copyright dish name for their charcoal fried hokkien mee) takes hokkien prawn noodles to a whole new dimension.
.
In every mouth, you can taste their charcoal infused "wok hey" noodles soaked in wet wet sticky sticky 😉 gravy (黏黏的感觉). Firm and succulent seafood (prawns and squids) ingredients just levels up the hawker dish. The only pity their chilli 🌶  did not make the mark to create a spicy blend, otherwise this will be my only hokkien mee stall to patronise.
.
👉Heavenly Charcoal taste in every bite
👉Quality firm prawns and squids
👉Hot and wet dish makes you go wild
They have a few outlets and I went to the East Coast one. Beside their stall, they also sell satay which I am a big fan. Definitely will be back for more!
.
About the oyster/prawn omelette, what about it? That's my review lor 😛😛😛
Just a note, they usually sell out by 8pm. So better try to be early!

Zhong Yu Yuan Wei (忠于原味) Wanton Char Siew Noodles (Tiong Bahru)

Rating: 💎💎💎
Zhong Yu Yuan Wei Wanton Noodles (忠于原味) @ Tiong Bahru Food Centre # 02-30
Recommendation: Char Siew and Premium Char Siew (不见天叉烧)
If this dish was on an Italian menu, it would read: Kurobuta Char Siew Angel Hair Pasta. The noodles are not the QQ type you expect, but it comes with a cleansed texture (no ghee smell) which is pretty hard to find nowadays. Their chilli and noodle sauce just compliments the Angel Hair chinese style noodles. 😋😋😋
They serve restaurant grade and quality ingredients at affordable hawker prices. Their wonton and dumpling skin is so soft and delicate. Their fillings are flavourful and not skimpy. I didnt get to try their Premium Char Siew today as it was sold out. The Premium one has more fats than the typical Char Siew. Probably this is a sign that I have to return for more.

👉Restaurant grade quality at hawker prices
👉Char Siew is tender and flavourful
👉Supple wonton and dumpling skin
They do not sell Char Siew only noodles unless you are willinging to pay a premium of at least $15 for a dedicated plate of Char Siew. Attitude I Like!
Usually they will sell out early, so try to be there before 12pm.

Delicious (美味) Mee Siam, Mee Rebus, Lontong

Rating: 💎💎
Delicious (美味) @ Tanjong Pagar Food Centre # 02-02
Recommendations: Lontong, Mee Siam, Mee Rebus
Simple comfort food for your usual morning fix (even for Lunch). Persistent long queue during meal times signifies the popularity of the stall for different reasons. Too bad I couldn't try the Lontong due to supplier shortage. Will be back to try all menu items.
👉Fresh ingredients and quality sauces
👉Standard $3.50 prices for menu items
👉Tacky signboard with 古早味 traditional flavours
Usually they are sold out by late lunch time around 1.30pm, so get your cravings earlier. #dunsaybojio ah!
One more pro OL tip, remember: "No Dou Gei ah" 😍🤭😍

Na Na Curry

Rating: 💎💎💎
Na Na Curry (南南咖哩) @ 115 Bukit Merah View #01-47
Recommends: All Curry Dishes? 😋😋😋
This stall needs no recommendations. Simply on 🎯Point!!!
When you buy a property, is about location, location, location. What makes a good curry dish? Curry, curry, curry! (I'm not trying to curry flavour the dishes 😉)
(Usually they are sold out before their closing time, please arrive by 630pm to be safe)

If you cannot take spicy, don't buy.
If you cannot take thick gravy, don't buy.
If you cannot take mutton, don't buy! Cause the mutton curry is da bomb!
(see the thick mashed curry sauce on the bread? Looks like your pores close-up when watching a 4K TV screen)

I have been having them since I was young and way before Mr Michelin (Bib Gourmand) came to drop by. Despite the fame they received, their prices are still kept at a reasonable $3-$4 and wallet friendly level.
👍Kudos to the owners of such stalls and I will continue to support them for as long as my curry cravings continues.

Till we curry again! 😋

Joyus Pastries

Rating: 💎💎💎
Joyus Pastries @ Tanjong Pagar MRT Basement (#B1-03)
Recommends: All time favourites 🍍Pineapple Tarts ($25), Hae Bee Hiam (Nonya 🦐Prawn Rolls), Chocolate Chip, Almond and Cashew 🥜Nut Cookies
Still haven't got your CNY goodies? Last three days to grab yours through walk ins to Joyus Pastries outlets. Long queue every CNY cannot go wrong.
Bought a few pineapple tubs for my colleagues and everyone came back with awesome feedback. The tarts are crispy and well coated with its buttery fragrance. The oversized sweet pineapple fillings with chewable strands are just worth your calories. I had 2 tubs of them and now left with only 30% 😋😬😅 (haven't CNY gonna finish liao). Protip: Planning for 2022 CNY, buy them before a certain date for bigger discounts. 🥰
Since we cannot shout Huat ah, just have to buy a few tubs of Pineapple tarts and roll them at home. Hope the God of Fortune (财神爷) can come and overcome them. 🤑🤑🤑

Blanco Court Prawn Mee

Rating: 💎💎💎
Recommends: Jumbo 🦐Prawn Noodles, 🐖Pork Ribs and Pork Tail Noodles.

Your local prawn noodles staple that packs a punch every single time. Their dry version comes with their unique chilli sauce that is slightly sweet🍬, lil spicy🌶 and combined with a tinge of prawn broth umami. Prawn size depends on your wallet size from $6 (latest price list) - $12 (Jumbo ones) with a variety of combination of pork ribs or prawns. I love the pork tail prawns combo.

Their gao gao prawn broth is refillable so make sure you get enough of it before your butt leaves the place. When the queue 👯‍♂️👯‍♀️👯‍♀️ gets long during the peak hours, do get your dose of fried fritters (五香虾饼) while waiting.
The fried fritters just completes the ala carte prawn noodles set menu. With fresh and wide variety of prawn crackers, tofu skin, ngoh hiang, hey zhou, fish ball, cuttlefish balls, pi da (century eggs), dou gan (beancurd) and many more. Sure to leave your belly calling for more! Every order comes with the pinkish sweet and mahogany spicy sauce, fantastic way to start your week!
(latest price list which they have just adjusted in Feb 2021)

Not recommended for first date💞, but second dates can proof worthy of how your date can withstand a coffee shop style dining without the aircon.

They have a few brother-owned shops of prawn noodles. I also like their East Coast Beach Road Prawn Noodles. Note this place closes on Tuesday.
